Absolutely, two Stonlea Healthcare Homes have special design features incorporated to enhance the lives of those who have dementia related illnesses. Ashwood Park has a self contained single story wing that provides residents with dementia related illnesses the opportunity to access a beautiful secure internal garden filled with plants to stimulate the senses and create tranquillity. Cedar Court is also designed with the needs of clients with dementia in mind and provides an enabling environment where clients are empowered and independence encouraged and has the benefit of a Snozelen room.
Activities are tailored to suit the individual needs of those suffering from various stages of dementia. We aim to provide physical, social & mental stimulation to maintain individual skills which will promote a feeling of well being and independence. Stonelea Healthcare adopts a person centred approach to care which ensures a way of "connecting" with a person suffering from Dementia. Essentially person centred care means exactly that, it puts the person, not the dementia at the centre of the care.

It is a condition of employment that all care staff undergo training to NVQ level 2 in Direct Care and participate fully in all mandatory training. We try to ensure through our rigorous recruitment procedure that all staff employed have a range of experience and qualifications. We are aware and place great emphasis on the need for staff to compliment their NVQ’s with specialist training such as Positive Dementia Care and training associated with the Learning Disabilities Award Framework.
Induction and Foundation Training meets the requirements of the new Common Induction Standards. We invest heavily in the training and development of our staff and this has been acknowledged by the retention of our Investor in People status.
Service users and carers can be assured all staff undergo checks in line with the protection of vulnerable adults and Criminal Records Bureau.
Stonelea Healthcare is committed to ensuring that service users are fully consulted about matters that are significant to the running of the home or about matters that might affect their wellbeing or quality of life. Service users comments are actively sought during regular meetings with management and staff within the home. Those with dementia can participate in these meetings and are able to use family, friends or advocates in order to express any desires or concerns they may have.
Quality Assurance Questionnaires are distributed annually for service users, families or representatives to make confidential comments or suggestions in order to improve the way in which care is delivered or the way the home operates. Service users are actively involved in the recruitment of staff as appropriate.
Our manager or senior member of staff envisages to see each service user daily and our open door policy encourages service users or their representative to be able to see the manager or senior member of staff at any time.
Internal audits are completed monthly by our General Manager who ensures standards of care are monitored. During this visit views of the service users will be sought on the standards within the home and how care is delivered and managed.
The results of all quality assurance questionnaires will be published and displayed on notice boards throughout the home. Service users and relatives views on the service provided can also be located in the reception area within albums.
