Meet the Residents at Cedar Court Care Centre
Want to know how well your loved ones will be looked after? We recently asked two residents of Cedar Court Care Centre what they thought of their stay there. Here's what they said along with a little bit about their day to day life:
Christine Curry
Christine has been a resident of the Dalton Unit, here at Cedar Court Care Centre, for over a year. Christine, who suffers from MS, attended Peterlee Day Centre before joining us. Christine continues to attend the centre at Peterlee once a week and still enjoys taking part. Where she is learning computer skills, such as word-processing and is now learning how to use the Internet and e-mail. Christine also attends the Day Centre, here at Cedar Court twice a week to take part in other activities and to socialise.
Christine enjoys keeping up her hobby "cross stitch". Christine is always willing to demonstrate her talent to other residents and visitors and some of Christine's handy-work decorates Cedar Court. Christine likes to take part in everything.

Christine Curry In The Middle Of Some Cross Stitch
"Outings, parties and any other activity I will be there. Bingo, scrabble, karaoke, armchair exercises or listening to the entertainers who come into Cedar Court. I liked Gordon Styles, who did a good job at the homes first birthday party.
We all look forward to the library bus, which comes around every three weeks. This gives us a large selection of books. Since the library bus started I now read much more than I used to. I like the autobiographies, especially one to do with horse racing.
All the friendly staff and good friends here at Cedar Court make my stay here a happy one, although I sometimes still miss livening at home at times. "

Mary Williams
Mary Williams
Mary was one of the first residents in Cedar Court Care Centre. Before coming here Mary served in the WRAF. When she left, became an active member of the WRAP Association for many years, as well as working in Shortley Bridge Hospital and a "lollypop" woman in Seaham. So Mary led a very busy life before joining us.
Since coming to live here at Cedar Court Care Centre, Mary likes to continue to be active taking part in residents meetings and activities. She has always praised the staff on been very professional, approachable and friendly.
"If there is a question or query, all you have to is ask and it is sorted. I have a good family who "pop in" most days, they are also made very welcome. We have had several social occasions and events where we have had a good entertainment, the Irish Dancing being one of my favourites. I have the morning evening paper delivered and I like my game of bingo."
Mary also likes to get out in the mini-bus, whether it is a ride just down the sea front at Seaham, a day out at the Durham Light Infantry Museum or a trip up to South Shields.
So all in all, there is always something to do here, if you want to take part.
